Break free from anxiety, cravings, you-name-it with this technique (no prescription required)

I sat on my bed, legs crossed, palms up, eyes closed, and box-breathed (in 4, hold 4, out 4, hold 4).

My anxiety had been creeping up since early afternoon and I was determined to get it in check before I picked up the boys from school.

After several minutes, I laid back on the back frustrated and without relief.

That’s when I remembered EFT.

Heard of it?

No worries.  It’s new to me too.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique.

It combines tapping on specific meridians on your hand, face, and chest with spoken phrases that help you tune into the problem that is troubling you.

Truthfully when I first heard of EFT, I felt it was a bit too hippie-like for me…

says the girl with the lotus tattoo who is covered in clary sage oil.

However, being open-minded coupled with a deep desire to feel better made me willing to give it a try.

I was first learned of this tool from Gabby Bernstein.  She encourages EFT to release emotions in her book, Judgement Detox and some others.

She has also shown how this technique can be used to help break bad habits, something you know I’m passionate about.

EFT offered a way to cope with emotions and unwanted cravings in a way that made me healthier.

As much as a love my chocolate and wine, I know it doesn’t serve me to turn to those in times of trouble.

What I loved most about this technique was the self-talk.

Whether you believe in the energy meridians or not, the self-talk is beneficial.

Now before you begin it’s important to rate your emotions on a scale of 1-10.  This gives you an opportunity to take note of your progress.

Then you begin with the phrase…

“Even though (whatever is troubling you) ... I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

Then you proceed with claiming what your struggling.

With each tapping point you state another concern about what is causing the negative emotions.

After a few rounds of that, it’s time to bring on the positive.

While continuing to tap on the various points you make positive statements about the situation that offer hope and guidance.

I love how this helps you process what is going on while ending it on a positive note… in a way it pulls you out of the weeds of a negative mindset and leaves you with hope.

Personally, I have added EFT to my arsenal of resources.

Wondering if it’s right for you?

If you haven’t seen EFT before, check out this video of Gabby.

She will guide you through the process.

While the video is geared towards kicking sugar, you can replace those words with whatever you need in the moment.

After you check that out, comeback here leave a comment below with a before and after rating of your experience.

I can tell you my before rating was a 9 and after a 4.

I can’t wait to hear yours!

In love and health,

Meghan
