What If We Lived In a World Filled With Unfiltered Selfies?

I have spent many years of my life working in schools, mostly middle schools.  Every year I see countless young girls who struggle with their confidence and self-worth.  Then I go out into the community and see almost as many grown women struggling with the same thing.

This is why I do this work.

I do it because we deserve better.

I do this work because you are beautiful, valuable, and it is your inherent right to feel this.

I do this work because when I look at those young girls, I see myself and the girls I grew up with.  And then wonder how much simpler life would have been had I felt confident and valuable all those years.

We have long lived in a world of comparison.  While social media has made it easier and faster to compare, this is not a new concept.

In fact, in many circumstances it is encouraged...beat out the competition, be better than the rest.

Because of this we don’t talk about the behind the scene messiness and portray ourselves with filtered selfies even to those we call our besties.

I do this work because no one should feel the need to be filtered.

If I can give one woman the courage and confidence to love who she is and not be afraid to let others her, then I’ve done my job.

Life is messy.

Health, money, and love.  They all come and go, ebb and flow.

Whether they are in abundance or lack does not change how valuable you are to the world.

You are so precious exactly as you are.

I do this work because I have hope for a tomorrow filled with unfiltered selfies

In love and health,

Meghan
