This Unconventional Method Could Help You Lose Weight, Harvard Studies Agree.

“The mind is everything.  What you think you become.” – Buddha

“The power of positive self-image plays a vital role in experiencing perfect health.” – Deepak Chopra

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” -Henry Ford

Wise messages by some wise people… but is it all a bunch of hoopla?

Today mindfulness and meditation practices are everywhere.

They are being integrated into parenting styles, business philosophies, and even medical practices.

But how powerful is the mind really?

Can the mind really help one lose weight?

Let’s examine your own truth…

Have you ever sabotaged a diet before you began?

It’s day one,  you’re walking into a party and you KNOW that you will succumb to temptation.

You do the deed and spend the rest of the evening (or morning depending on how much wine you have) beating yourself up for your “failure.”

Well sister, guess what….

YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!

It was your mind that failed to fullfill your intentions.

Studies from Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania suggest that the power of the mind can positively impact weight-loss.

A controlled study of 150 binge eaters at Harvard found that mindfulness helped participants gain more control over eating and enjoy their food more.

A study at the University of Pennsylvania found a positive correlation between weight loss and optimistic expectations.

Are you curious how you can train your mind to benefit your body?

Here are some simple practices you can incorporate in to your daily routine today.

1.       Eat with the non-dominant hand.

2.       Eat silently for five minutes while focusing your thoughts on your food.  The taste, the texture, how nature made it possible for that food to be delivered to your plate.

3.       Repeat a positive mantra daily. Ex. “I am feeling healthy, focus, and determined.”

4.       Begin and maintain a regular meditation practice.

5.       Get clear on WHY you want to make a change. Use this guide to get started.

Begin by choosing one of these practices and using it daily for a week.

Then help others by sharing your experience in the comments below.
